-Prometo darte poder y riquezas si me eliges- Dijo Hera.

  1. The Final War
    Beginning: Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
With it being explained and implied that the Final War is essentially a prolonged World War I, it is likely that the Final War began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on July 28, 1914.

    Early Years: Trench Warfare
The Final War began with human-on-human trench warfare with ballistic weaponry, which would soon be outclassed by electric guns and heat weapons. This era didn’t last long, likely lasting only four years, as the soldiers in the trenches would soon meet their swift and efficient demise by Russia’s newly-developed Guttermen: one of the first successful experiments in using blood as fuel, as well as the first Machines to be deployed in global conflict. They additionally serve as an example of the savagery of the war itself; Russian researchers hadn’t yet found a way to keep the blood fresh within the Machine itself, and so would seal live often unwilling humans into the Guttermen’s caskets on their back to drip-feed them fuel.

At first, soldiers celebrated returning home, but they soon learned that the Final War, and now the newly-established Arms Race, left little in its wake. All resources were used to manufacture more Machines, and impoverished citizens struggled to survive.

    Following Years: Arms Race
The Guttermen paved way for the next phase of the war: the Arms Race. Several countries began developing and manufacturing new Machines, each made to counter the last and to end the war, yet each Machine only continued the war further. Germany developed the Guttertanks to counter the Guttermen, and it escalated from there. Soon, mankind automated the manufacturing process of new Machines.

South Africa would also join the Arms Race, developing the Excavator(s). It is unknown what the Excavators were made to counter, however. Sentries are also said to be made during the Final War, although their manufacturer and who they were made to counter is both unknown.

    Climax: The Earthmovers
In 2014,[1] a century into the Final War, Japan would deploy the Earthmovers: weapons of mass destruction, Machines of such size and power that it only took one to level an entire city and leave nothing but fire in its wake, large enough to come equipped with a shield generator that rendered them impervious to outside attacks. For the rest of the Arms Race and the war, Earthmovers would dominate the competition.

Although Earthmovers had shield generators that negated outside attacks, they could be destroyed from within, and thus, the Earthmovers became the front lines for smaller infantry Machines. On August 6, 2112, nearing the end of the Final War, the first V prototype, V1, was developed, likely made to counter the Earthmovers. However, only one prototype was produced, and the war would eventually end before mass production could happen.

    Later Years: The Long Night
    [Main article: Long Night]

The Final War would eventually escalate to a point where most of Earth was scorched and rendered uninhabitable, as a consequence of the wide deployment of the Earthmovers. The few survivors were forced to settle on the backs of the Earthmovers themselves, until the resulting soot and debris blocked out the sun. The Earthmovers, which relied on solar power in order to function, began to die out one by one. As warfare relied on them, mankind was more or less forced to end the Final War—it had grown to be without reason.

    Aftermath
    [Main article: New Peace]

Streetcleaners were developed to cleanse the air of soot and debris, transitioning the Long Night into the New Peace, an era of prosperity and reconstruction. New Machines were developed and repurposed for peace: A new V model, V2, was repurposed for peace, but was scrapped with only one prototype ever made; and Drones were developed as non-lethal surveillance cameras and security guards.

    The Book
In present times, most information about the Final War comes from mentions of it or associated events in Terminal entries. The longest description of the war comes from a book in 7-4, likely written—or altered—by Hell itself. Below is a transcript of the book.

    Theories and Trivia
The Final War was not the extinction event for humanity—it remains to be revealed what killed off humans specifically, though Gabriel and Minos Prime both claim the machines exterminated mankind before going into Hell. Something broke the New Peace.
Minos’ statement is also just as likely about the suffering that machines inflicted on humans during the Final War and the suffering the blood-based economy caused.
At no point is it stated that the use of blood as fuel is ever phased out; in fact, based on Terminal data for V2 and Drones, for whatever reason humanity continues to use blood as a prominent fuel source for its machines.
It is likely that this is due to humanity not having alternative power sources to fuel the machines, hence them looking for new power sources after the war.
Samsara refers to the endless cycle of death and rebirth within Buddhist and Hindu religions. Given the book refers to machines that create machines to crush machines, it can be inferred that the war became effectively endless due to automation of factories that produced robots for the war, with humans being observers of robotic warfare instead of soldiers within the trenches. Considering the autonomous actions of the Earthmovers and their own «brains» being a boss that can act independently, it is possible that humans did not personally command the robotic legions of the Final War.
The Final War may be an alternate continuation of World War I, or the Great War. This is supported by the fact that the early years of the Final War was described to have started with man-to-man trench warfare, identical to World War I. Hakita hearted a comment about this on his main channel upload for «Hear! the Siren Song Call of Death», expanding this theory.
This is further supported by V1’s firmware version during the bootup sequence (2112.08.06) which likely dates the end of the war to be somewhere right after this date. 200 years before V1’s firmware lines up right around the beginning of World War I, 1912. In real life, World War I began in 1914.
It is likely that V1 was designed, at least partially, to take down Earthmovers, with this task—as well as general warfare usage—being rendered obsolete due to the Long Night. The style bonus +RAISON D’ETRE, obtained by killing the Earthmover in [ 7-4: …LIKE ANTENNAS TO HEAVEN ] confirms this theory.
The Nailgun and Railcannon are the only two weapons explicitly weaponized outside of the Final War—both being weaponized by machines after the fall of mankind.
While their power makes the Earthmovers the most likely candidate for destroying the Earth, due to the exact details of the Long Night, it is just as likely atomic bombs were involved.
Text found on machines can help narrow down what countries were part of the Final War:
Russia, from the text «ЧТ 01» (short for ЧЕЛОВЕК-ТАНК 01, lit. MAN-TANK 01) on the shoulder of Guttermen.
Germany, from the text «FAUST PANZER» (lit. FIST TANK) on the left arm of Guttertanks.
Japan, from various signs with Japanese text on the Earthmover.
Any country in South Africa, from the flag on the Excavator.
It is likely that any countries participating in World War I were also involved.

    Notes
    Maybe?
It is uncertain if pre-WWI history is exactly how it is in real life, given Minos and Sisyphus are real instead of mythological.
